Homework for week of September 18-22nd

St Amour grade 7 - due September 25th When Angelina's aunt visited a month ago, she told Angelina “Looks like you put on a few pounds since I last saw you.”  The next day Angelina began a new routine with morning crunches, jumping jacks, and side leg raises. She now skips breakfast and heads to school. For lunch she eat some fruit. After school she exercises to her sisters video and then goes for a jog around the neighborhood. When she gets home she is exhausted and lies on her bed to read her teen magazines. She wishes she had a body shape like these girls. Her family and her best friend tell her she looks great but she can't help feeling unhappy about her body. 1.) What advice would you give Angelina? 2.) What would you suggest she do to be more healthy? 3.) Why does Angelina feel unhappy about her body?

Homework for week of September 18-22nd Kwiatkowski, Ellis, Leroux grade 8 - due September 25th As a young child Fatima do not worry about her weight. When she was 11 years old some of her friends started talking about dieting but Fatima was comfortable with her body. When Fatima turned 12 years old her body began to change. One of her friends remarked that Fatima was gaining weight. She became concerned about getting fat so she decided to go on a diet and not allow her way to go above 95 lbs.  Eventually Fatima started to a difficulties sleeping at night. She felt tired and cold all of the time. She noticed her hair was thinning and one day she even painted in class. As result of these physical changes Fatima began to avoid going out with her friends. At age 13 her favorite grandmother passed away. At this time she began to starve herself and lost a dramatic amount of weight striving to be as thin as possible and hating for herself even if she gained an ounce. 1.) What advice would you give Fatima? 2.) Why is she starving herself? 3.) Why is she so concerned about gaining an ounce? 4.) How do you get Fatima off this destructive roller coaster?
